CSV stands for comma-separated values, a file format that organizes data in a table-like structure, using commas to separate individual values and new lines to separate records. Due to its lightweight and flexible nature, along with broad software support, CSV has become the go-to format for simple data sharing, such as exporting and importing information.
While private schools have significantly modernized their tech stacks—with API access now increasingly available—CSV files remain prevalent in schools for many reasons. To support a holistic approach to data management, this past fall we introduced CSV as a data source in our platform, empowering schools to seamlessly incorporate this format into their data warehouse strategy.
WHY IT MATTERS:
From legacy systems lacking API capabilities to custom-built solutions developed in-house, schools clearly need an efficient way to integrate CSV data into a modern, centralized data warehouse. Given the widespread use of CSV files in school data operations, we were confident that offering CSV ingestion as a data source would be a valuable addition to their data toolkit.
HOW IT WORKS:
Just as we support Google Sheets as a data source, we’ve made using CSV files straightforward for the user:
- Drag and drop your file or select it from the preview screen
- Confirm the data you want to use
- And watch the integration happen!
