Set up your SchoolBI Account – Part 1

In this video, learn how to create and set up your SchoolBi account, the first step to improving your school’s data democratization.

Hi. My name is Ryan Bowse with School BI. This short video explains how to actually set up your School BI account and how to configure it for the first time. It’s about three and a half minutes long and we’re only going to be talking about stage one in the process of becoming a customer.

So two quick things before I go any further. That is one, I will be using a stage account to do this. So don’t worry about your URL. You should have a different URL when you sign up your account.

This is where we practice and use different things, so that we don’t break anything in production. Very likely, your URL will say app dot school b I dot com sign in. So don’t worry about that. The second thing to know is that you only need one person from your school to actually do this.

You don’t need multiple. So what I always recommend is pick somebody who’s going to be the account owner for your School BI account. That person is usually someone who will be making decisions around upgrading, downgrading, buying new product, resetting passwords. It may be someone in a business unit like an admissions or development or business office or could be someone in IT.

You only need one person to do this and then you can invite your fellow coworkers to the environment leader. So, let’s just go with the fact that you’re watching this. You’re going to be the one doing it.

After you get to this web page, there’s a little yellow hyperlink here. It says, do you have an account? Don’t have an account. I’m sorry. Sign up. Click on that.

You’ll be taken to the screen. All you need to do is enter your first name, last name, and your school email address. I’ll be adding actually a fake address just for educational purposes today.

I’m gonna create a password. We suggest a strong password. We have some minimums. Here you can actually see. So just give me one second. I agree to our main service agreement and I hit sign up.

The next page you’ll see is I actually will need to confirm my email address. So on another page, This may take a couple minutes. Don’t worry if you don’t get it right away. This may take a couple minutes.

Don’t worry if you don’t get it right away. You can always hit the resend, at any time to resend the email to you directly. So my email came in, and I have it right in front of me. And I will enter it right now.

And then I’ll hit confirm Email.

When I confirm the Email, it says, great. The little sign there says, sign in with your new account. So what I’m gonna do is I’m actually gonna enter that long email address that I sent.

So give me one second. Just wanna make sure I get it.

And I’m gonna enter the password that I entered. I’ll hit log in. What it’s gonna do is it’s actually gonna provision my account, associate my username and password, which is my email, to a new account or to an existing account.

Again, for those that are setting up a new account, that’s what this, tutorial should be is about. You click on start a new account.

You actually enter your school name. I’m gonna say Test Academy, and I’m gonna enter, a URL.

Now what that’ll do is that’s gonna provision the account officially, and I’ll be taken to a landing page like this. We, oftentimes, call this the app home page.

For this particular tutorial, you’re done. That’s all we need to do. I’ll talk a little bit about next steps and then follow-up video. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Congratulations. You just set up your School BI account, and you’re on the first stage of improving your data democratization.

Have a great day.
